We’re celebrating the M’s newly commissioned murals with a block party on 4th Street: enjoy food and drink from Twin Cities Pita and 12welve Eyes Brewery, and live music from Realtree. Step up to Public Art Saint Paul’s Utopian Podium and partake of the fun and games on offer courtesy of the SPARKit mobile trailer.
The M has commissioned three murals, all of them honoring Hmong culture and creative heritage. One will be on the Jackson Street parking ramp; a second will be on the Pioneer Endicott building, and a third will be painted along the entrance wall for Eastside St. Paul’s Hmong Village. The murals are being created by guest artist Vanghoua Anthony Vue (Brisbane, Australia) in partnership with local artists Xee Reiter, Christina Vang, Melissa Vang, and Shoua Yang.
Saint Paul Mural Projects are made possible, in part, by a grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, with support from the City of Saint Paul, Lowertown Future Fund, Saint Paul Neighborhood STAR program, PAK Properties, Hmong Museum, Center for Hmong Arts and Talent, Wet Paint, Griffith University, Sherwin Williams, Hmong Village, Studia H, and Public Art Saint Paul.
