Finally, there is a respite wing that is operated in partnership with United Hospital (Allina Health), Regions Hospital (HealthPartners), and St. Joseph’s Hospital (HealthEast) so patients recovering from major surgery and psychiatric care don't wind up on the streets. LSP alumni will spend the first hour hearing from directors of Higher Ground and the Respite Project about how Higher Ground is housing homeless in Saint Paul, what the next phases of the project and then tour the facility. After that, participants will be able to help with cleaning and painting at Mary Hall, in an effort to prepare the building to house 170 single adults, phase 1.5 of the complex. LSP is the first volunteer group to be able to participate in this next important phase of the project. When the painting and cleaning are finished at 5:00 pm, the group will head to a nearby spot for Afterglow (beverages and appetizers provided) - attendance in Afterglow is optional.
