Event Description:
Reid Schar, Ethical Challenges and Responsibilities of Leaders
A partner in the Chicago office of Jenner & Block and co-chairs the firm’s White Collar Defense and Investigations Practice. He is a former assistant U.S. attorney who has tried more than 20 criminal cases, many involving complex fraud and financing issues. During Reid’s tenure at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois, he attained wide acclaim. He was the lead prosecutor in both corruption trials of former Governor Rod Blagojevich. As a result of Mr. Schar’s work on these cases, former Governor Blagojevich was sentenced to 14 years in federal prison. At this Membership Meeting, Mr. Schar, using evidence from the Blagojevich trials (including the wire taps), will speak about the Ethical Challenges and Responsibilities of Leaders today.
In his current role, he leads domestic internal investigations and international Foreign Corrupt Practices Act investigations. Reid also has extensive experience handling compliance reviews on behalf of clients around the globe. In addition, he represents clients in a broad array of complex civil litigation.
